Requirements

• Completed visa application form
• Original, signed passport (with at least six months before expiration)
• One recent passport-size photograph (2"x2" in size)
• Round-trip flight and hotel confirmation
• An invitation letter from China

Although the requirement for L visa fundamentally remains the same across different Chinese Consulates, there are some special rules pertaining to each different Consulate, which means in some specific cases additional documents may be required based on jurisdiction.

The ultimate duration of the visa will be determined by the consulate in accordance with the applicant’s planned length of stay, which is indicated by the flight ticket, the invitation letter, etc.

China Tourist (L) Visa Extension Service

China tourist (L) visa Extension is issued to foreigners who have entered China for tourism on an L visa. Those foreigners can apply for one extension for a period of no longer than 30 days without leaving mainland China.

• Completed visa application form
• Original, signed passport and visa for examination
• One recent passport-size photograph (2"x2" in size)
• Registration form of temporary residence for visitors (issued by the hotel or the police substation of the area where the lodging takes place)

Notice

Normally the extension of applicants’ stay cannot exceed the duration of stay of their current visa. For example, if they are holding a 15 days L visa in China, they can only extend it for another 15 days.
